Hi, I'm a school student and we use Visual Studio Community 2015 on a PC at school. I'm trying to install the software on my Mac at home (I don't have a PC) to help with some homework and better understand the tool. Developer Community for Visual Studio Product family. I don't know if this is the right subreddit but I am taking a C course that is taught using Microsoft's Visual Studio Community (formerly Express) and the professor has suggested that we partition our hard drives using either Bootcamp or Parallels in order to use Visual Studio. I've done this on previous MacBook Pros and I have found it to be too much of a hassle to do for only one program.
Is there a similar program for Macs that I can use instead? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, please and thank you. I've taken courses that 'suggest' this and the suggestion is usually more of a 'you're screwed if you don't do this'. If you aren't comfortable with using a different environment for C development you may want to just use Parallels to run VS. That way you're able to compare with the professor easier and ask questions that they can answer. It is the biggest pain and I hate it too but sometimes having VS installed on a VM pays off.
Especially if you're school gives you Windows free anyway.
